Ropechains

Ropechains are necklaces made of gold or silver in which several strands are intertwined to give the appearance of a braided rope. They can be all gold or silver or a mixture of the two to make gold and white colored chains. They can also be very slim chains or very thick and in varying lengths. The possibilities are endless as long as you are willing to pay the price.

When buying a rope chain to add to your jewelry collection, the price will tell you whether it is made of real gold or silver. Some of the cheaper gold jewelry on the market is gold-plated. This also applies to silver, even though silver chains are cheaper than gold. You may have to think twice about paying the high price of a real gold chain, but it is something that will last forever. You can pass it down to one of your children or grandchildren and it could become a family heirloom.

When buying jewelry for men, rope chains are the one most recommended. They present an appearance of elegance without being showy. Although men would not wear this type of jewelry with a suit and tie, it is an elegant piece of jewelry to wear with T-shirt and jeans, whether or not the man wears a sports coat. Women also wear rope chain jewelry, especially with high-necked tops and dresses. The jewelry adds an element of sophistication to all outfits.

Usually rope chains are made form either 14 or 18k gold. You do have to look for the special stamp denoting the carat weight of the gold. If you happen to be visiting the Middle East and shop for gold jewelry, the minimum carats allowed for gold jewelry is 24k. 18k, 22k and 24k are quite common for these chains manufactured in Asia.
